The mission of the Vermont Shamrocks is to provide hockey players an opportunity to play select level hockey while still playing for their local association or high school teams. Shamrock players are loyal leaders of their local association teams, yet the

2023-24 Split-Season 16u & 19u Teams

Three-time USA Hockey National Champion Vermont Shamrocks are committed to having National Bound Tier II 16 & 19U split season teams.  Tryouts for 16U and 19U splits will take place at Cairns and Gutterson

All players must pre-register for tryouts. Any out-of-state players are welcome and there are limited roster spots for non-Vermont players.

For 23-24 the Shamrocks have left the Massachusetts based ESGHL and will return to playing as a Tier II Independent National Bound team. We have booked enough Fall ice in VT to hold a series of on-ice events including 6 home Sundays for planned double header games vs. New England and NY teams.

The Shamrocks FULLY SUPPORT Fall Varsity student-athletes and our schedule reflect our recognition that often the best hockey players in Vermont are also important members of their school's volleyball, field hockey, soccer and/or cross country running teams.

Being upfront and transparent has always been important to our non-profit all volunteer association. We can promise high-level hockey for student-athletes who also represent their communities and schools over the Winter.

This year's fall season will include one August weekend in Southern New England before fall sports begin. This weekend will include 4 games and a number of organized college visits. The "first half" of the fall season ends the weekend before Thanksgiving. We then regroup in March to host New England championships at Cairns and will travel to the USA Hockey National Championships if qualified.

The Shamrocks - in partnership with High School teams - have placed more athletes in NCAA and ACHA programs than any other program in our region. The split-season program is perfect for players who want to get ready for their high school season as well as for players who aspire to play NCAA or ACHA hockey. Last winter 100% of our eligible seniors were selected as Rotary HS All-Star players and at least two of our players earned NCAA Division 3 commitments.

Our fees are low as they reflect only the cost of our ice time, referees, jerseys, shells*, bags*, socks, league fees, insurance, and website fees divided by the number of players. Everyone pays including coaches kids, goalies, etc. If a family needs financial assistance money may be available.

2020-21 'Rocks Womens Adult Team

As of now playing hockey is an approved activity given Vermont's Department of Health COVID 19 guidelines.

For the first time, ever the Shamrocks are looking to offer a formal USA Hockey Registered Adult Women's Senior Team. This team will be able to play in sanctioned games against other women's' teams and could possibly enter tournaments or other events. The team will abide by ALL USA Hockey and VT COVID-19 regulations.

Because of these same COVID related travel restrictions, there could be a number of high school and college-aged girls/women looking to play competitive hockey who are unable to leave Vermont to do so.

While players DO NOT have to be former Shamrocks, this team will seek to leverage the Shamrock Alumnae network and provide some fun events for VT Women who (still) love to play hockey. The team will also play a large role in helping to support other girls and women as they try and make the best of what will be a unique fall and winter.

The primary goal of the organization of the team (or teams if there is significant interest) is to help lend a structure (website, collecting money to pay for ice tie, refs, & help setting up games, etc) for adult women to play organized hockey in a fun environment. This team will be supported by the Shamrocks organization, but ultimately it will be "player run."

It is expected that our Shamrock 19U, 16U teams and even some VT college teams will be interested in playing in-state games/scrimmages this fall/winter. The (to be determined) fee for this team will include a reversible Shamrock jersey, socks, USAH fees/insurance, and ice time, refs, or tournament/jamboree fees.

This is a Womens Senior team as described in the USA Hockey Guide. This is for experienced players and while there is no specific age limit for this team players should be over 19 or enrolled in college.
